Randy Newman is one of the most sardonic, iconoclastic, musically adept and stylistically diverse singer/songwriters in the music industry. A gifted composer and social satirist, his movie soundtrack work has now earned him 19 Oscar nominations for "Toy Story," "The Natural," "Avalon," "Awakenings," "A Bug's Life," "Pleasantville," and for his infamous chart-toppers, "Short People" and "You've Got a Friend in Me," among others.
His first Oscar was in 2002 for Best Song "If I Didn't Have You" from the score of the animated Disney release "Monsters, Inc." Most recently, Newman wrote the songs and score for Disney's "Toy Story 3" and "The Princess and the Frog," of which "Almost There" and "Down In New Orleans" were Oscar-nominated. As of June 2, Newman has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
